Pregnancy After Loss

March is Pregnancy After Loss Awareness Month โค๏ธ

Pregnancy After Loss Support said it beautifully:

โ€œWhy March? In the world of pregnancy after loss, there is a story of hope about a precious new life, and itโ€™s the story of the rainbow baby. The beauty of the rainbow does not negate the ravages of any storm. The clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides hope and promise of new life ahead.

As we trudge out of the dark storms of winter and into spring with the hope of new life blooming, we spread awareness and acknowledge the difficult journey of balancing joy and grief during a subsequent pregnancy after loss.โ€

๐Ÿ’” 10-20% of people experience pregnancy loss.

In December 2022, my husband and I learned we were pregnant. This was a planned and wanted pregnancy.

We were thrilled. We told our families right away. We had names picked out.

Then, at our first ultrasound appointment, there was no sign of an embryo in my uterus. We learned it was an ectopic pregnancy.

We were devastated. I was devastated.

After having had severe pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy, I was already having a hard time trusting my body to have a healthy pregnancy; and now this happened.

It made it even harder for me to trust my body in my third pregnancy. I took many, many pregnancy tests over the first two months - trying to reassure myself that this baby was going to be OK.

I am lucky to say that, almost two years ago, I was blessed with my rainbow baby. She is more magical than I could have ever imagined. I couldnโ€™t imagine our life without her.

I know that this is not everyoneโ€™s story, and my heart goes out to them.
